This is an example of a Spanish reading unit that teaches acceptance of different cultures/financial statuses. It can increase students' emotional resources and help fight stereotyping of students who live in poverty.
This lesson plan is very diverse in that it can be used in a variety of ways. Though focusing primarily on HIV/AIDS in particular, it can be used to discuss the effects of a lack of emotional and physical resources, as well as the importance of support systems.
