Partnerships with Teachers and School: Professional Relationships: To be able to withhold the best possible counseling program counselors need to maintain a professinoal relationship with all faculty and staff within the school in which they are working. This means that they need to be respectful and make sure be as fair as possible. This will help the counselor be aware of all the resources around them and allow them to utilize them to help students to the best of their ability. Responsibilities to the school: A counselor needs to support the school that they represent and know when and where to inform appropriate officials of any situation that may cause danger or counteract with the school's policies. They also need to be able to, at the same time, still honor the students' privacy.

This way they have a clear understanding of your job and your relationship with them. Counselors always need to remember that the children they work with are minors so they will not only need to be working with thtat student but with their parents as well. Confidentiality is key! The counselor and the community: Many people might think that counselors only work in the school and with people within the school. This is where they are wrong. The counselor always needs to think of the best interest of the student. This may mean that the counselor needs to communicate and collaborate with agencies and individuals within the community.
