What is eFolio?
eFolio is a secure web site for saving, organizing, viewing, and sharing personal information and records.


Why create an eFolio?
eFolios can be thought of as an electronic file cabinet in which you can store multiple types of information by and about yourself, such as writing samples, photographs or design samples, video clips, music clips, resumes, internship experiences or mentors.  Similar to an investment portfolio the more broad the information that is stored in efolio, the greater the return to the user.
Creating an efolio portfolio encourages you to think critically about and document your thoughts and experiences related to personal information, education, career, skills, professional practices and recognition.  Once this information is entered into efolio, the portfolio owner can choose to share either part or all of his or her entire portfolio with other individuals.


What information can go in my eFolio?
You can enter personal information, attach materials, such as documents, photos, and other files, and/or link to external websites.


How secure is eFolio?
An advantage of efolio is the high level of security. The secure server uses SSL (secure socket layer); this ensures that all of your efolio information is encrypted and cannot be read as the information travels over the Internet.

Three User Groups of eFolio:
Each category is designed to showcase your individual strengths

• Students – Current students, K-12 or higher education. Showcase your educational accomplishments, employment, volunteer experience and interests. Students under age 18 will receive a private site requiring a password and username to share with others of your choosing.

• Educators – Teachers, instructors and faculty members. Highlight your professional development. You can include publications, presentations, and educational and career development.

• Careers – Individuals who are seeking employment or others who are currently working. You can market your career history, skills and other experience to prospective employers by directing them to your electronic portfolio. If you’re under age 18, you will receive a private site requiring a password and username to share with others of your choosing.

• Before you begin creating an eFolio, you must first register through the website by using the provided information in the attached file.

• After you have registered and received your eFolio confirmation, you are now ready to make a public eFolio for potential employer prospects, colleagues, friends, and family to view your educational experience and artifacts. Attached is a file provided by Minnesota State Colleges & Universities that will give you step-by-step directions to create, maintain, and customize your personal eFolio.
